KicKee Pants' EB Awareness Donation Campaign // Lillian Mackey
Nine months of a healthy pregnancy, with a stubborn infant who never turned. April 18, 2014, Lillian entered the world via c-section, weighing 6lbs and 10oz. She was beautiful, but something seemed off. She had a couple of open lesions on her legs, and after having those awful hospital pacifiers in her mouth, she had huge blood blisters on her tongue. Our small town hospital panicked and away she went on a helicopter to children's hospital in Columbus. We were there for 60 days, with some nice nurses and doctors who didn't know exactly how to handle EB. It was scary and unfamiliar. But we were able to get in touch with some wonderful organizations and people who showed us the best way to care for our baby girl and ultimately saved all of our lives. She is now 18 months old, and happy. She's walking, talking, and her skin looks amazing. Although a cure couldnt come soon enough, right now we are very fortunate and thankful.
