Opal & Olive
We're Opal and Olive! We were born via emergency c-section at 34 weeks. We are twins born two minutes apart so we scored our own birthdays at 11:59pm and 12:01am! We had trouble breathing and had to be sent to the NICU. It was a long struggle for our parents to finally get pregnant so leaving us in the NICU was very sad and hard for them. We were intubated to help our lungs mature as well as lots of other tests and procedures. Baby Olive got to come home after 2 weeks which made it even harder because we were sisters separated! Opal stayed another 2 weeks so Mom and Dad had to go back and forth to be able to see us both. Lots of tears from our parents but we knew it would all be worth it when we were finally a family of four. Being so tiny nothing fit us so mom ordered some preemie kickee pants outfits and she even slept with them so she could leave her smell behind when we were separated. They were so soft and cozy it helped us feel more at home. Now it's all we wear! Thanks to our kickees we made it through one of the hardest struggles at the beginning of our little lives and are now soft and snug at home with our family!
